What is Brizillian Jiu-Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the fighting art developed from traditional Jiu-Jitsu by the Gracie family of Brazil. Even though BJJ contains standup techniques for winning a fight, it is famous for its devastating ground fighting techniques. BJJ was specifically developed to allow a smaller person to defeat a larger person by sophisticated application of leverage and technique. Gaining a superior position on your opponent and applying a myriad of chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations is the foundation of this martial art. BJJ is normally practiced in a gi, which serves as a tool to give the student a greater element of control.

Retired U.S. Navy veteran with 20 years of service and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt awarded by the Mendes brothers in 2017. Training since 2011, with a strong passion for teaching and developing students to reach their highest potential in the art of BJJ. Proud supporter of competitive excellence, highlighted by daughter winning her first adult black belt World Championship.
Professor Edrik Williamson
Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Manuel Ribamar and Rodrigo Pinheiro of Rodrigo Pinheiro BJJ. Retired U.S. Army NCO with 16.5 years of service. Lifelong martial artist training since age 8, with extensive experience across multiple disciplines including Jiu-Jitsu, Kung Fu, Ninjitsu, Judo, and amateur MMA. Dedicated to continuous improvement, competition, and mastery from the fundamentals upward. Committed to pushing beyond limitations and instilling a mindset of perseverance and excellence in students. Family-oriented, with a strong belief in always striving for one’s highest potential.
